From the Spring 2002 collection, this classic collarless jacket was designed by Karl Lagerfeld. We love collarless styles like this one because they remind us of the original cardigan jackets that Coco Chanel designed. This one is cut from a beautiful black tweed boucle, our favorite fabric that looks new after decades of wear.
Note the sleeves, they are three-quarter length with four black double-C logo buttons at each cuff. Our favorite detail of this piece is the Camellia flower brooch that is cut from the same tweed as the jacket. A Camelia flower is one of the well-known icons of the house of Chanel. Mademoiselle didn’t just adorn herself with silk Camellias, pinning it to her hair and the lapel of her jackets. She also frequently used the floral motif as a decoration of her surroundings, including her apartments.
This piece has a zipper closure, is lined in silk, and is finished with the trademark chain at the hem.
