This classic two-pocketed piece comes from around mid-1970 from House of Chanel's first ready-to-wear line, Chanel Creations. Later renamed to Chanel Boutique, for the first 6 years the collections were designed by Phillippe Guibourhe who was brought in from the House of Dior to launch the ready-to-wear line.
We love the material this jacket is cut from - soft, loosely woven tweed boucle, one of our favorite fabrics that retains its condition over the years, and can look like new even after decades of wear. The grosgrain ribbon is a common choice for the time when Gabrielle Chanel was designing herself and we love the play of textures here. Note the pretty lion head center buttons, another famous symbol of the House that symbolizes Gabrielle Chanel's zodiac sign, Leo.
Fully lined in silk, finished with the trademark chain at the hem, this piece is a timeless buy for you to keep forever.
